The Karoo 230W Portable Solar Panel is Flexopower’s most compact high-output portable solar panel – 230W of proven field performance packed into a design that folds down to the size of a phone book. Built with shingled solar cell technology and Teflon ETFE encapsulation, it’s designed to deliver reliable power for 3 or more days off-grid while fitting behind a seat or into any drawer system.
Small footprint, real output
Shingled solar cells are connected in parallel groups rather than in series, so a shadow across part of the panel doesn’t drag down the whole thing’s output – a meaningful advantage over conventional panels, which lose output across the board when any single cell is shaded. The tighter cell spacing that shingling allows also means less wasted space between cells, which is exactly how the Karoo230W manages 230W in a panel that folds to 340 × 570 × 50mm. The cells are encapsulated in Teflon ETFE – specifically Neoflon from Daikin, Japan – offering better UV resistance, heat tolerance and long-term durability than standard PET or EVA encapsulation.

How to Use It
Park in the shade, put the panel in the sun, and connect the Karoo230W directly to your Flexopower power station via a FlexoLink extension cable – no separate charge controller required. It can also connect to a solar charge controller in front of a deep-cycle battery for use in a conventional fixed solar system.
